PRESIDENT

Tim MacGregor

Tim currently serves as the Director of the Florida Department of Commerce Office of Military and Defense, and Executive Director of the Florida Defense Support Commission.  He also serves as an Interagency Fusion Liaison with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Florida Fusion Center.  A native of Seattle, WA, Tim spent 34 years on active duty in the United States Air Force, serving mostly as a pilot, before retiring as a Colonel in 2017.  He later moved to his bride’s hometown of Tallahassee, where they met in graduate school at Florida State University in the early 1990s.  After arriving back in Florida, Tim worked for the Florida Legislature for several years before moving to the Department of Commerce.  Tim’s admiration and affiliation with Law Enforcement began as an elementary school student when he spent time with his beloved and idolized Uncle Elmer, a legendary Seattle Police Department Motorcycle Officer who’d often stop by Tim’s house with his Harley-Davidson police motorcycle.  In high school Tim was active in the Seattle Police Explorers program, attaining the rank of sergeant before ultimately leaving home to join the Air Force.  Tim earned a bachelor’s degree and military commission as a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy.  He additionally holds master’s degrees from Florida State University, the United States Naval War College, and National Defense University.  As an LCSO Foundation Board Member Tim is excited for the opportunity to help “pay it forward” with the Sheriff’s Office Explorers because of the incredibly powerful and important years he spent as an Explorer in his youth.
